One team member down

After playing 5-a-side football last week, Mark has seriously damaged his ankle and has had to leave the team. This is a big loss as Mark would have kept us motivated during the ride, but we all hope his ankle mends quickly! Maybe next year...

We've hopefully got three new members to the team, and I will announce more news later in the week.

I got stung by a wasp on my cycle ride last night, and I'm still nursing a sore knee from it.

Tonights Cycle Ride

I've just got in from a 13.5 mile cycle from Cambridge to Sharpness and back along the canal. It was a beautiful evening and the wildlife along the canal was out in force. The swans are a particular treat and I saw 4 flying tonight, which is a spectacle you can never tire of. There were lots of baby cygnets out and they're all starting to get quite big now, but they're very cute. I passed lots of dragonflies and butterflies, not sure what sort, but pretty to see.
There were lots of canal folks out tonight and I could have sat down with one group who were just enjoying a barbecue which smelt great. I had to make do with a banana when I stoppped at the Purton Ship Graveyard.
Probably the best part of tonight's ride was seeing a woodpecker! It just flew out of the bushes, straight in front of me and landed in a tree. He was bright green with red and a very long beak.
We're having our first team meeting tomorrow night and I'll be handing out the sponsorship forms, so beware, we'll all be asking you for your support!!

The first blog

Everything is under way for the Sensory Cycle on the 16th & 17th September 2010. Most of the team have started their training program and we've started to think about the route we'll be taking and just how hard the ride will be.
